This affirmation meditation is a companion to episode #21 of the podcast on cultivating creative flow. Welcome. Today we will cultivate creative flow and reconnect with the childlike joy within ourselves.

Find a comfortable and quiet space where you can fully relax and let go of any distractions. You can be sitting in a chair, on the floor, or lying down. Whatever position makes your body comfortable and allows it to release into relaxation. There is freedom in how you position your body, so choose one that feels good.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, allowing the air to fill your lungs, and exhale slowly, releasing any tension in the body and in the mind.

While these breaths should be deep to help settle the body into a more relaxed and calm state, they shouldn’t be forced or feel unnatural. Now, start breathing in your normal cadence, bringing your awareness to your breath to allow yourself to connect with its rhythmic pattern.

As we embark on this journey, let go of judgment, fear and anxiety. Allow yourself to be present in this moment, opening your heart to the creativity that resides within. You are a creative being, and you need peaceful time for reflection on how your creative spirit wants to express itself.

Imagine a time when creativity flowed effortlessly through you, like when you were a child at play. Picture the wonder, the whimsy, and the magic that was part of your everyday life. Perhaps you played in your room, or with your friends during school recess, or after school.

Play was an integral part of your life, and you expressed yourself through many different creative activities. Maybe fingerpainting, coloring, puzzles, collage. There were physical games to express your creativity too. Hide and seek, tag, and basketball. There were no limits to your creativity.

As you think of these times, focus on these affirmations.

I embrace the child within me, where creativity knows no bounds.
The child within me is joyful and free to express its inner creativity.
I want to return to this childlike state and release inhibition about expressing my creativity.
I want to enjoy being creative, for its own sake, and will not judge or question my creative impulses.
These creative moments are an important part of who I am.
Like the child that lives inside me, my creative spirit wants to come out and express itself.
I embrace the child within me, where creativity knows no bounds.
Feel the warmth of this affirmation filling your being, inviting the creative spirit of your youth to come forward.

Now, visualize yourself holding a key, unlocking the door to your inner world of creativity. You turn the lock and open the door, and as the door swings open, hear the laughter and feel the energy of your inner child eager to play in this room. While you’re in this beautiful, open room, where creativity can come forth and live where your inner child can express itself. I affirm these thoughts.

I release self-doubt and embrace the joy of creative expression.
I don’t question my creativity or my desire to be creative throughout the day.
I know that it is an expression of my true self.
My creativity tells a story, my story.
I release self-doubt and embrace the joy of my creative expression.

Now, sense the freedom that you feel as you let go of doubts and worries, making space for the playful, creative energy within you.

Let's explore the concept of creative flow. Envision a stream of inspiration; there’s a river of ideas that flow effortlessly through your mind. And as you see this flowing river, you know that you are in sync with its natural flow. Affirm these thoughts.

I am in sync with the natural flow of creativity within me.
Like a river, my creativity flows from my mind and heart and comes effortlessly outward.
I will let this stream of inspiration be free, not judging or questioning the path it takes.
I am in sync with the natural flow of creativity within me.

Picture yourself immersed in this flowing river of ideas, where time loses its meaning, and you are fully engaged in the joy of creating.

Think back to activities that brought you joy as a child, whether it was painting, playing music, or simply letting your imagination run wild. What is your mind drawn to? What creative activity speaks to you and wants to be released? Invite that creative journey into your life.

I invite the creative spirit of my childhood back into my life.
I invite myself to express my creativity in ways that speak to my truest self.
I will allow whatever creative impulses arise to be expressed without questioning them or putting pressure on them.
I invite the creative spirit back into my life.

Feel the lightness and ease with which this playful creative spirit wants to come back into your life.

Now, let's set an intention for creative flow. Visualize a spacious room in which you are surrounded by clean, white walls. The walls represent the infinite possibilities of your creative expression. Set an intention to release your creativity in this spacious, open place.

I set the intention to devote time to my creative spirit, allowing it to flow freely.
I set an intention to allow and express whatever creative impulses come my way.
I will let my creative expression spill out of my mind, heart and body and be realized in this open and inviting space I have created.
My creativity has a home, and from this safe space, I am free to express it.

Sense the power of this intention, as you commit to nurturing your creativity with dedicated time and attention.

Imagine scheduling this time on your calendar, treating it as a non-negotiable appointment with your creative self.

I prioritize my creative time, recognizing it as essential to my well-being.
I create a wondrous, open space and time for my creative pleasures.
I value this time with myself and my creativity.
I make sure to schedule it into my day and keep my promise to engage in creative time.

Feel the importance of this commitment, knowing that your creative spirit deserves time and space to flourish.

Now, visualize your creative space adorned with the tools and materials that inspire you. You have total freedom in this creative space, and it has everything you need to begin your creative project.

My creative space is a sanctuary for inspiration and expression.
I long to be in my special place where I can let flow the creative ideas, expressions, and messages that come forth.
I feel safe and supported in this creative space.
I feel at home here and my creativity can come out to express itself in this loving environment.

Feel the energy of your creative space, a place where ideas flow freely and your senses are awake.

As you engage in your creative sessions, take a moment to reflect on the joy and fulfillment they bring.

I reflect on my creative endeavors with gratitude and awareness.
I know that coming back to my creativity will nurture my spirit and allow me to enjoy being the person that I most want to be.
I feel joyful, I feel satisfied, I feel fulfilled when I spend time working on my creative projects.
I will reflect on this sense of purpose to understand it and bring it back into my life.

Sense the satisfaction and fulfillment that creative flow brings to your life.

Finally, envision yourself repeating these steps regularly, cultivating a habit of creativity. Embrace the practice.

I embrace the rhythm of creativity, making it a consistent part of my life.
I embrace this daily practice and know that my creativity will always be here for me when I return tomorrow.
I will set an intention, schedule time for creativity, create an inviting space to work in, reflect on my creative sessions, and repeat the process every day as I build a creative practice.
